Course description

Students should work on a specific research assignment. This assignment can be part of an ongoing, or recently started project of the academic supervisor: the student is not expected to be the principal investigator. Yet, the assignment must be demarcated clearly enough for the student to be able to make a significant contribution to the assignment and to conclude the RI within the time allowed for the given EC. During the RI, students will be stimulated to apply the knowledge and research skills they have already acquired, but will also be challenged to acquire new knowledge and research skills by working in close collaboration with the RI supervisor. The supervisor is expected to provide constructive feedback to the student throughout the RI period.

Note: The work of the internship cannot be reused for the thesis: The two products should be clearly distinct. It is however possible to collect and prepare data during the internship that can be used for the academic supervisor’s project, as well as for the student’s thesis.
