The workshop was organized by the Dutch Sustainable Finance Network and the first of its kind. This network consists of researchers passionate about sustainable finance based in the Netherlands. Their aim is to bring together like-minded, young researchers to achieve great things together.
Special thanks to Andreas Brøgger (Erasmus University Rotterdam), Marco Ceccarelli (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), Juan Francisco Palacios (Maastricht University) and Thomas Walther (Utrecht University) for helping put together such a strong lineup!
Deepen your knowledge in Sustainable Finance
Apply to the Sustainable Finance course. This course takes place during academic year 2024-2025 at our location in Amsterdam. The course is part of the two-year research master Business Data Science at Tinbergen Institute.
Sustainable Finance course
The course aims to offer a rigorous introduction to sustainable finance, focusing on climate finance. This new and rapidly growing field of finance aims to understand how financial markets, firms, and policy-makers interact to address pressing societal issues like climate change.
We will mainly focus on three areas of sustainable finance:
- Corporate finance and investments: How do (sustainable) investors allocate capital and monitor firms? How do firms respond to this?
- Asset pricing: What is the price impact of sustainable investing and climate risks? Can climate risks be hedged on financial markets?
- Household finance: What are the underlying rationales for individuals to engage in sustainable investing?
Course Objectives
After completing the course, participants will be on the research frontier and thus able to conduct independent, high-quality research in sustainable finance. The bulk of the research will be empirical or experimental, but we will also discuss the main theoretical frameworks.
