Foundations of Machine Learning with Applications in Python
Dr. Lukas Hoesch
Lukas is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Econometrics and Data Science at the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is trained as an econometrician and holds a PhD from Universitat Pompeu Fabra. His research interests include time series econometrics, forecasting and machine learning methods with applications in empirical finance and empirical macroeconomics. In addition to this summer school, Lukas teaches courses on algorithm design, econometrics and data science.
Dr. Ronald de Vlaming
Ronald is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics at the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He is trained as an econometrician and holds a PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam. His research focuses on statistical methods, machine learning, and econometrics, with particular emphasis on using large-scale human genetic data to elucidate the interplay between biology and environment in shaping brain morphology and social-scientific outcomes such as educational attainment, intelligence, personality traits, and income. In addition to this summer school, Ronald teaches courses on econometrics, database systems, and analysis of genome-wide data.
