Stéphane Bonhomme (The University of Chicago, United States) gave the TI Econometrics Lectures 2022. Bonhomme is the Ann L. and Lawrence B. Buttenwieser Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago, United States. Bonhomme specializes in microeconometrics.

His recent research is about microeconometrics and econometric theory, with a special interest in latent variable modeling and panel data; labor economics.

Topic: Econometrics on Networks

Economic outcomes are often the result of interactions between agents. Yet, econometric analysis mostly focuses on single-agent models. In these lectures I will review recent research that considers networks of interacting agents and outcomes that result from these interactions. The main focus will be on how agent heterogeneity, and sorting patterns and complementarity between agents, shape outcome responses and affect their dispersion. Two leading classes of applications are models of wage determination with worker and firm heterogeneity, and settings where agents produce output in teams.

Research Workshop November 11, 2022
Following these lectures, on Friday 11 November the Econometric Institute organized a Research Workshop on Microeconometrics and Network Analysis with Professor Stéphane Bonhomme as keynote speaker. Presenters included Iván Fernández‐Val, research fellow Arturas Juodis, Guido Kuersteiner, Áuero de Paula, and research fellow Julia Schaumburg.
