Student research and academic job market in focus at TI/BDS PhD Jamboree

The TI/BDS PhD Jamboree on Friday June 19 brought together PhD candidates, alumni and faculty for a full-day programme on the academic job market.

Placement director and research fellow Eric Bartelsman (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) opened the event with the general TI job market presentation, followed by alumna Maddalena Totarelli (ifo Institute and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich), who shared the students’ perspective on the intensive job-market journey.

Throughout the day, PhD students presented their research and job market papers, which were discussed by designated discussants.

The programme concluded with keynotes by research fellow Frank Kleibergen (University of Amsterdam), who offered the employers’ perspective on the market, and alumna Stephanie van der Veen, who will be joining Copenhagen Business School in September.
