Sustainable Finance On-Campus Course – Applications Now Open!

Tinbergen Institute's Research Master’s Program in Business Data Science features an on-campus Sustainable Finance course, offering a comprehensive introduction to sustainable finance with a special emphasis on climate finance. This dynamic and rapidly expanding field examines how financial markets, businesses, and policymakers collaborate to tackle pressing societal challenges like climate change.

Who Should Apply? 

Sustainable Finance is one of Tinbergen Institute’s elective courses in Business Data Science, offering access to top-tier faculty and expertise.

Registration for elective courses in the 2024–2025 academic year is open to Tinbergen Institute Research Master’s and PhD students, as well as external participants and PhD students from outside the institute.

The Sustainable Finance course, along with other electives, offers an excellent opportunity to acquire new skills or deepen your knowledge by enrolling in a single course.

Gain valuable and relevant skills

We will mainly focus on three key areas of sustainable finance:

  • Corporate Finance and Investments: How do sustainable investors allocate capital and monitor firms? How do firms respond to these practices?
  • Asset Pricing: What is the price impact of sustainable investing and climate risks? Can climate risks be hedged in financial markets?
  • Household Finance: What motivates individuals to engage in sustainable investing?
Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to conduct independent, high-quality research at the forefront of sustainable finance. While the emphasis will be on empirical and experimental research, the course will also cover key theoretical frameworks.

Course start dates

This course will be taught in Block IV, starting the week of March 3, 2025.
